Five For Friday and a Freebie

Friday, February 13, 2015
I can honestly say I don't know where this week has gone.  It's been a very busy and stressful week.  We lost my grandmother at the end of last week, so it's been an emotional week.  I started my week off with a fun soccer game for my son.  It's so much fun to see him out there kicking the ball and trying his best.
I made a couple of dishcloths this week.  I love making these and they are always our go to dishcloths.  They're just rough enough to clean well, but also soft.  This is also my favorite pattern.  Hopefully, I wrote it so it makes sense.  I don't follow a pattern anymore because it just comes naturally after making so many.

I tried a new chocolate cookie recipe. I found it on Pinterest and it's full of cream cheese and other things. They didn't turn out like I would have hoped.  Afterwards I read through the comments and others said the same thing.  The lesson learned is read the comments before you try a new recipe!

Five For Friday - A Crafty Week

Friday, October 24, 2014

What a busy week I've had.  This week started with a celebration for my sister-in-law who turned 40.  A big group of us went out to dinner and had a good time.  I made her this silly 40 sucks gift that I saw on Pinterest.
My sons kindergarten class had a field trip at the beginning of the week to the pumpkin patch.  I volunteered to go on the field trip.  Unfortunately, it rained most of the time, but we still had lots of fun.

My youngest son loves dinosaurs!  There are times I think he really believes he is a real live T-Rex. So, he begged me to make a  dinosaur craft with him this week.  We found this cute one on Pinterest.  It's a free download through Teachers Pay Teachers.
My kids earned pajama day at school this past week too.  I found out about it two days before and freaked out because they have no decent pajamas.  So, I spent the morning before pajama day sewing.  They loved their new pajamas.  I really need to make them some more pairs.

Roll a Jack-o-Lantern Craftivity

Tuesday, October 7, 2014
I had this great idea come to me in the middle of the night last night. I've seen the roll a creature papers and I thought what about roll a jack-o-lantern? Needless to say, I woke up this morning and got to work right away.

This craft was a hit in our house. My son wanted to keep making jack-o-lanterns in all different colors. If it involves a dice and drawing it's a winner at our house.

Five For Friday and a Freebie

http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/2014/05/five-for-friday-linky-party-may-9th.html

This week has been a bit crazy.  It all started with me having to cancel a subbing job one hour before I was supposed to be there.  I hate doing that and I've had to do it twice this year because my daycare has been sick at the last minute.  There's nothing you can do when someone gets sick.  Then, to top it all off my son also got sick this week, so, no working for me at all this week.  Which means I got a lot of stuff done that I'd really been needing to.
Even though I've had a sick kid home all week I still got crafty.  I made some clothespin magnets.  I just used washi tape and mod podge.  The washi tape was a little too big so I cut it down as best I could.  Once it dried I sanded the edges to get it the perfect size, then I mod podged them again for an extra seal.
A few of them I didn't add magnets to.  We are using those ones to hop up our artwork on our art display wall.  I got the ideas for the frames off of Pinterest.  This is one of my favorite things in my house.
One of the first things I worked on was a teacher appreciation gift for my son's teacher.  I'm the room mom so I had to organize with all the other parents.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture and it was so cute.  I made a huge paper flower and inserted a gift card in it.  Then, there was a butterfly plant stake and also a chalkboard plant stake (I made it) that said, thanks for helping us grow.

I also made these wonderful scribble background pages.  I added them to my Teachers Pay Teachers shop and they're free.  There's 16 different backgrounds.  If you do download them please leave some feedback.
I also managed to finish a set of fish clipart that adorable!  They're such bright colors.

I also started listing some of my CVC packet that I've been working on and still haven't finished in my Teachers Pay Teachers shop.  I decided to sell parts of it separately and then it'll also be bundled together at the end when I get around to finishing the whole thing.  The first thing from the CVC mega packet is CVC Race Track Matching.

I just finished adding five new fonts to my Mega Font bundle today too.  I love the new ones.  They're some of my favorites.

I made a new product last weekend.  My son is still trying to learn his abc's so I created a Cut and Paste Letter Sorting Activity.  I think it turned out adorable.  If you would like the first page head on over here to grab a copy for free.
My youngest son and I got really crafty at the beginning of the week.  We decided to try our hand at making some watercolor paints.  I really wanted the liquid kind that you just add to water, but they are so expensive and I couldn't bring myself to buy any.  We got the idea from here for homemade watercolor paints.  They turned out so well I think we'll do this again in the future when we run out of paint.  I got the containers at the dollar tree.  I wish they were smaller, but it's all I could find.
With the watercolor paints we created some of our own watercolor birds.  I found this blog that is new to me on Pinterest the other day.  She has so many crafty projects, a lot of them with watercolor, and they're even organized by grade.  I spent so much time on her site the other day and pinned a bunch of things.  Anyways, we got the idea for the birds from her.  They're based on James Rizzi paintings.  I think they turned out so cute.  I painted one and my littlest son painted the other.  He loved it!  Sorry that the pictures a little dark.  I need a better camera, but don't know what to get.
I've also been working all week on creating some of my own doodle kids.  I made over 40 of them.  I love how they turned out.  I'm just not sure if I'll sell them or not because they're similar to what others make. I don't want anyone to think I'm copying, but I'll use them for myself.  What do you think?  Should I sell them or not?
This week has been so crazy.  I've barely been home at all this week.  I've been substitute teaching most of the week.  Wednesdays I volunteer in my son's class, which is always fun.  I even got to substitute in his class which was great.  I'd gotten called to substitute for every day of the week except Wednesday.  I try to take that day off because it's early release and my son would have to go the Boys and Girls club.  He hates it there.  I ended up turning down a job just so I could have a day off.  My father in law is coming today and I needed one day to stay home and get the house cleaned!  Anyways, it's been a crazy, but fun filled week.
