Free Bookmarks

My kids are always losing their bookmarks. I think having a fun bookmark also encourages reading.  So I decided to make some new ones yesterday. I'm hoping that with having several around it'll take longer to lose all of them.

 I just print them on regular paper and then laminate them. This seems to make a nice thick bookmark for our liking.  You could always print them on cardstock too.

Five For Friday - Lots of Alphabet Practice and Clipart

I can't believe it's already Friday.  It's been a busy week.  I started the week off with finishing up the final touches on my Interactive Alphabet Notebook.  This has been a huge hit with my son and has been successful in helping him learn his alphabet.  He's been struggling.  Be sure to read this post about the notebook.  It goes into quite a bit of detail of what's included.

This past weekend I started some of my seeds.  You can't see too well in the picture, but there's finally some baby onion sprouts popping up. I try to grow just about everything we plant from seeds.

 

Valentine Love Bug Doodles

I created five new sets of clipart this week!  That's right five!  Actually, six, but I haven't uploaded my newest set, another set of kids, yet.  Maybe today.  The cute Valentine Love Bugs are a freebie.  If you download please be sure to leave some feedback.

I spent quite a while making these fun alphabet mazes.  These were a huge hit!  There is a faint picture under the maze of that starts with the letter as well as the picture on the side.  There is one maze for every letter of the alphabet in this set.  Each maze features both uppercase and lowercase letters.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at the library.  I love using the public library.  My son loves it so much and it's really fun to see the different books, movies, and puppets he wants to check out ever time.

Five For Friday and a Ton of Freebies

 I started my week off by making a whole bunch of new fonts.  Five to be exact!  These have all been added to my Mega Fonts bundle. 

 I also worked on a couple new sets of clipart.  I have so many things I want to draw and not enough time.

We celebrated my sons birthday this week.  I can't believe he's already 8!

He's been really interested in cooking and wanted to decorate his own cake.  I love that he has such an interest.

I did a super long post about setting up guided reading at home yesterday.  Make sure you read the post.  There are three freebies in that post.  My son has really been struggling with learning his alphabet and numbers at school so I'm really going to be trying hard to work with him at home.  Although he doesn't really like to work with mom.  If anyone has any suggestions please leave me some feedback.

I just created a set of ABC dauber worksheets.  These are similar to my number dauber worksheets.  Just because I love everyone who purchases from my shop and finds my products useful I've decided to make these free for today only.  If you do download them please leave me feedback!  Make sure you grab these today because they'll be $3 after tonight.

My son loves doing these worksheets!  Don't look too closely at the letter T page though.  He got carried away and wanted to do the dauber in a pattern and would not have it any other way this time.

Setting up Guided Reading at Home and Freebies

My youngest son has a very difficult time with learning his letters and reading. He only knows maybe ten letters and their sounds. I know it's hard at school for the teachers to work with every child's individual needs and I feel like he's not learning to his greatest potential.

I tried working with him a lot this past summer before he started kindergarten, but since I'm his mom he really didn't want to do much with me.  Well, I decided I've got to do something at home with him and I finally got it all set up a few days ago.

I saw this post  on Little Minds at Work about Reading Interventions.  I thought this is exactly what I needed to do at home with my son.  We tried it out and guess what?   He loved it!  In fact, in one day he learned how to spell the word see, unscramble the word, sound it out, and say the word.  They've been in the same reading unit at school for three weeks now trying to learn this word. 

The above photos show what I've included in my box full of goodies for guided reading at home.  I used a box I had leftover from Ikea.  I printed some of Little Minds at Work free printables.  I made several of my own things that we will be using.

In our box we have two different kinds of whiteboards, a chalkboard, sight word dice, sight word flashcards, alphabet flashcards, slinkies, letter tiles, an alphabet chart, sound strips, sound boxes, clear rocks, car, racing sound mats, books, cards for spelling promts, and sight word songs.  I got a couple  of songs from Miss Kindergarten and I made one of my own.  Click the picture or link below for a free copy of my song.

I Can Spell New Words Song

I wanted to create an alphabet chart of pictures and words my son knew.  I see a lot of alphabet charts with yak, but he has no idea what that is and would never know that a yak was a y or what a yak even is.  This chart is simple and fun for us.  If you would like a free copy of my alphabet chart click the picture or link.

CVC Activities and New Clipart

I added several things to my Teachers Pay Teachers store over the last couple of days.  The first thing I added was a new set of monster clipart.  These are so cute.

I love how they turned out!  They're so happy and cute.  These will be on sale for the next couple of days.

I also added a CVC Mega Bundle.  This includes all of the sets pictured below.  There are four activities in this huge set.  This is perfect for those who are just learning their CVC words. 

Included in the Mega pack is CVC Vowel Matching.  I just added this set today too.  Students need to mach the correct picture and word to the corresponding vowel. 

 I also added a CVC Write the Room activity.  There are two different CVC write the room versions in this set.

Included in the Mega Pack is my CVC Race Track Matching. 

Also the CVC Magnet Match is included in the CVC Mega Bundle.  I will put all of my CVC work on sale for the next two days to go with the new sets that I added.  If you want the Mega Pack you will save some.
